Gajera Global School, Pal, Surat, had the privilege of hosting an exceptional Hindustani Vocal performance by the “Young Maestro” awardee Pt. Jayteerth Mevundi. The event was organized by Sunita’s Makerspace in collaboration with SPICMACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) and provided students with a unique and enriching experience.
SPICMACAY’s efforts have successfully sparked a heightened interest in Indian Music and Culture among the youth. This non-political, nationwide, voluntary movement was founded in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth, Professor-Emeritus at IIT-Delhi who was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ for his contribution to the arts in 2009.
Accompanied by Mr. Avinash Patil on tabla and Ms. Anshulaji on the harmonium, Pt. Jayteerth Mevundi’s performance left the audience in awe. The students were inspired by the artists’ musical talent and had the opportunity to engage with them during the performance. The positive interaction between the artists, students, teachers, and parents made for a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved.
Parents of the students were especially delighted with the event and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to witness such exceptional talent. The Virasat: A Return to Our Roots event was a resounding success and left a lasting impression on those in attendance.
The Hindustani Vocal performance by Pt. Jayteerth Mevundi and his accompanying artists provided a wonderful opportunity for the students, teachers, and parents at Gajera Global School to experience the beauty of traditional Indian music and to connect with their cultural roots.
