Gajera Vidyabhavan in Utran played host to Sunita’s Makerspace Movement to United Nations (SM MUN) conference on January 12th and 13th, 2023. The conference, organized by Sunita’s Makerspace in collaboration with Gajera Trust, attracted about 100 learners from the Gajera Group of Schools.
The conference, which simulates the United Nations and its various committees, provided an educational experience for
learners to learn about global issues, international diplomacy, and the UN system. The event aimed to improve the research, public speaking, debating, writing, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities of the learners.
Forty-six learners from Gajera International School, Utran (GSEB), and nine learners from Gajera International School, Utran (CBSE) and twenty-five others from Gajera Vidhyabhan, Katargam represented in committees such as Lok Sabha, UNGA, UNSC, and Climate Change. The learners delivered impressive opening speeches and were seen formulating resolutions and debating to get their resolutions passed with majority votes. The speakers were assigned to various countries to discuss global issues and were asked to play the role of diplomats.
The conference concluded with the delegates presenting their resolutions and speeches, showcasing the passion and knowledge of the learners. The closing ceremony was held on January 13th in the school grounds, and it was a spectacular sight with delegates from Gajera Group of Schools coming together to celebrate their hard work and dedication. The winning delegates were awarded certificates and given special recognition. The ceremony ended with live performances of music and dance by the learners, followed by delegates thanking the school management for giving them this opportunity.
SM MUN was a wonderful event that provided a great opportunity for learners to learn about international politics, diplomacy and global issues. The conference was a great success and helped to build a stronger awareness of global issues among the learners.
