Sunita's makerspace – All you need is space
The SM Interschool Debate Competition 2023, held on February 20, was a platform for students to showcase their debating skills and share their thoughts on the subject of Open AI and ChatGPT, the new revolution. The competition, organized by Smakerspace and held at the Gajera Global School in Pal, featured participation from a number of schools.
The topic of the debate, “Open AI and ChatGPT: The New Revolution,” sparked interesting discussions and debates among the participants. The competition was held in both English and Gujarati. A total of 40 debaters, who were split into two groups, made strong and clear arguments for and against the motion.
The competition began with the opening statement by the moderator, who explained the subject and the rules of the debate. Each team was composed of two members: one for and one against the motion. The learners presented their arguments in favor of the motion. They focused on the many benefits of open AI and ChatGPT. They talked about how these technologies could change industries, make processes more efficient, and make our daily lives better in many ways. They stressed that technology is already making big strides in areas like healthcare, finance, and education and that it has the potential to make the world a better place.
There were 2 rounds of counterarguments and rebuttals, and each side gave strong evidence and reasoning to back up their claims. The audience was very interested in the debate, and it was hard for the judges to choose a winner.
In the end, the team that argued strongly won. Their well-researched arguments and great delivery made a big impression on the judges.
The SM Interschool Debate Competition 2023 was a huge success. It gave students a chance to show off their skills and talk about open AI and ChatGPT in a way that made them think. The event showed how important technology is in our lives and how important it is to carefully think about the benefits and risks of new developments. The debate also brought up how important it is to keep researching and coming up with new ideas so that we can use the power of technology for the good of all.
