Sunita's makerspace – All you need is space
SUNITA’S MAKERSPACE a place where the learners and mentors can come together. The learners develop to use and learn materials to use as well as develop creative and innovative projects. The important idea is that it is a place that can be used for a range of activities with changeable and flexible educational goals and creative purposes.
We set Makerspace in all different shapes and sizes and when they are most associated with technology used to create and design, to showcase ideas and think out of the box.
- Foster mind games, study, and collaborative study.
- Facilitate opportunities for informal learning where communication between home, school, and community is allowed and encouraged.
- Collaborative learning where teachers and students gather their knowledge and skills and participate in teaching and learning activities;
- Develop a culture of creativity rather than teaching.
- We believe in “design learning environments and use design thinking to strategize cultural, pedagogical, and organizational change.”
The Creativity and Innovation platform is known as “SUNITA’S MAKERSPACE” and Tinkering Labs for robotics, 3D printing, digital video creation, and tinkering projects. Along with these offerings, Sunita’s Makerspace has whiteboards, soft boards, canvases to draw the images and ideas, and plans. We believe this space will allow our students to expand, instill and grow in new exciting ways.
What is Makerspace role in Education?
- Makerspace is a place where students can experiment, create things in school and it is a combination of science lab, woodworking, and Art classroom. Makerspace allows students creative ways to design, experiment, build, and invent while engaging in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths) courses.
- Makerspaces are a great way for students to experiment with the school’s curriculum and develop real-world skills and creativity at the same time.
- What do we need for Makerspace?
- It can be in any form – high tech or low tech
- Allows schools to offer constructivist education.
- Students think of these spaces as their “anytime” space they can go to be creative and innovative.
- It also helps children in independent learning skills.
- Instead of thinking of a Makerspace as an alternative learning environment, these spaces embody what modern learning should be like.
Keeping this view Gajera Group of Schools, Surat is running SUNITA’S MAKERSPACE to foster creativity and innovation among the learners through various club activities like Science & technology club, Art & craft club, Event management club, Maths club, Public Speaking club, Drama club, Photography club. These clubs are designed in such ways to give systematic planning to the learners to shape their creativity and imagination and innovative ideas. Though the time is difficult in this pandemic still learners are connected through Sunita’s Makerspace virtually in the form of activities and competitions like ‘TOMORROW LAND (imagination in creativity and innovation), SPELLING BEE (language efficiency), and WORLD in MY EYES (Drawing & Painting)
